I replaced the PVC plumbing with vinyl tubing and that fixed the issue with pump noise.
However there was another plumbing issue that was causing problems. The overflow in the display tank was sucking air in with the water and causing noise/bubbles, when the bubbles broke the surface in the basement it made a mist that would over time cause significant Salt Creep.
To fix the issue I did the silent overflow using a ball valve to create a full siphon.
Had to drill another hole in the tank and run another drain line to support this method but it resulted in dead silence and no more bubbles in the basement system. YAY! I am exusasted though. It took me all weekend 14 hours Sat and 6 hours today because I refused to drill another hole and tried to do it my way. After reconfiguring the plumbing several times, eventually gave in and got out the drill.
It was worth the effort.
