ISO: 20 gallon tank or slightly larger
« on: June 09, 2020, 16:56:06 »
Hello all,

After a rough battle with hair algae over the last few months in my 32 gallon tank, I have decided to restart the tank from fresh. So in the meantime I am looking for a 20 gallon tank to put my two fish in to keep until I can keep and restart my other tank from scratch. If you have one for cheap please let me know.

I’m also looking for a small light to put over top of it, not to keep coral, but just to enjoy the fish.

Thanks in advance.

This is basically the type of setup I am looking to do. Nothing fancy, but just enough to store my two fish in while I clean up the other tank really good.

How much are you wanting for one?

Hair algae can be killed completely with flucanzole. Add the flucanzole to the tank, don’t use any carbon or skimmer. In 4-6 weeks it will be completely gone. Then do a big water change to remove all the nutrients after the hair algae is gone. Add a small yellow tang to tank to keep it from coming back or maintenance doses of flucanzole. Easy Peezy.

If I were going to use the flucanzole, would I need to remove the fish, inverts and few remaining corals before doing it?

No need to remove anything. It is perfectly safe to use in a reef tank.

One more question is should I add the small yellow tang before I kill it all off, or wait until the tank is cleaned up?
