So is it just the Kelvin? Watts has nothing to do with it?

Its the spectrum..... They use red the best.... The watts do matter but if your watts are in the wrong spectrum your gonna have bad results.

Algae uses mostly red and some blue spectrum to grow the best.  440-460 and 660nm.

I'm running a Red/Blue/White LED fixture over my sump.    Only running about 20 watts of power.   The problem I have is that the red LED's that I have don't have optics, so it's not getting the algae.   Thinking about getting this for my red

How far away do you have the leds. Try moving them a bit closer instead of having to buy new stuff. I have red leds without optics, over a 18" deep tank and they have no problem reaching the bottom.

Too much splash potential on my sump.   I'm sure they reach the bottom, could just be overpowered by the blues, since they have optics.

Thanks....I have optics, but have the OSRAM red LED.....the chip is an odd size.   I was looking at some of my optics, I might be able to cut them up to make them fit
