Quarantine for CUC?
« on: April 25, 2013, 20:32:59 »
Hello,

New to the hobby. At this point I have basically a FOWLR tank, and am ready to place an order with reefcleaners. After my early experience with an ICH infestation. What are the chances of importing ICH with inverts?

Should I quarantine  before adding snails, if so, how long?

It would be very to extremely unlikely but possible.  To reduce the risk minimize the amount of water and even give them a quick rinse. Crabs and snails can take a 30 second rinse in freshwater no problem given temp is similar. For shrimp rinse them in a bit of saltwater from your tank in a container.

The main risk from snails and crabs is bubble algae or other invasive undesirable algaes.
