Growing mangroves in the home aquarium will be a topic of interest for the September Ohio Reef meeting. I attached an updated picture of my mangrove refugium below.

Tim, I don't see any reason for us not to be there! So, count us for two! Oh, and I want to take a better look at your substrate (the coral skeletons.) After going diving...it really got me rethinking a lot of my reef tank (and the substrate is one.)
-
Count me in.
Ps...Loving Florida right now. ;D

Just rub it in, Lonnie. Enjoy the rest of your vacation in the sun & surf!

I was the same way. My new reef design was based off of what I observed on wild reefs and not what you typically see in aquarium magazines or online. Can't wait to see your reef pictures from Curacao! Did you get to snorkel or dive the famous Mushroom Forest?

Udjustin and I will be there.

Hey Tim... I will try and make it. It'll be nice to just look at the tank, and not have to carry it. :) Keep us posted should anything change.

That's why I haven't committed just yet. Might turn into another tank moving party.
-
I think we might be able to make that one. We have been busy all summer and unable to make the others. Hope nothing changes, but as of right now count us for 2.

It looks like the September Ohio Reef meeting will have a nice turnout, which is great because my new tank will be delivered on 9/19/09 and I will need help moving it during the party.

We had to fight to get a trip to Mushroom Forest, but we did make it out there to scuba. It was amazing, although we were told by the locals that it wasn't the best place on the island to dive. Unfortunately, there were hydroids EVERYWHERE in the water...and I got stung up pretty bad (we were only given shorties to dive in).

I will PM everyone who RSVP'd with my address for directions. It is highly recommended you bring a camping chair with you if you prefer to sit during the meeting because seating will be limited in my basement.
Pizza and soda will be provided. Feel free to bring snacks or chips to share with others. We are expecting a good turnout, so any help with snacks or chips will be appreciated. You can bring your own adult beverages as well.
If you are interested in purchasing my Strombus Grazers snails (Strombus maculatus) from Hawaii at the meeting, please give me at least 24 hrs advance notice to collect them. These reef safe snails stay small (never exceed 1/2 inch in length) and are the miniature Hawaiian relatives of the famous Queen Conch from the Caribbean. Price is 20 for $10 or 50 for $20.
I will also have a limited number of sps frags available for sale at the meeting, including frags from the all the corals listed below (prices vary from as low as $5 to $30...most $10 to $20 range). The proceeds from these frags will end up paying for your pizza ;)

Update: I sent pm's with my address for mapquest to everyone who has RSVP'd to date for the September Ohio Reef meeting.

Anyone know if 741 is open at Austin Pike? I heard on the radio yesterday that "it was closed in both directions" at that intersection. Not sure if they mean only Austin Pike or both Austin and 741.
-
i went through goin from centerville to springboro, it was down to one lane , but i got through
-
Austin Pike is closed for about a month. 741 should remain open.

Thank you very much for the nice compliment, Nikki! If I could change anything about the meeting, I would have purchased name tags for everyone.

We always enjoy your company, Verper! So which did you prefer more, moving my tank or just looking at my reef filled with colorful SPS and reef fish? I remember when Chris Ward's (cward) reef aquarium was selected as the Tank of The Month back in 2006. It sure would be nice to see another reef aquarium from Ohio receive such an honor. We really appreciate all the Ohio Reef and CincyReef members who attended as well.

Tim,
Thanks for the great meeting. We had a really great time. See you next month.
Thanks for joining us, Scott. And a special thanks again for making me a glass cover for my overflow box. I really like it!
