UD Justin's 75 gallon hex seahorse tank build thread
« on: April 05, 2009, 22:21:16 »
So I bought this tank from Joel at Aquariums Etc. a little over a year ago and just have not had time to get it up and running. Well I have finally got a little time on my hands over this week so I decided that I needed to get this one started so today I got the rock wall pretty much done for it. I took a few pictures, sorry for the poor quality I have lost my camera for the time being and used my cell phone to take pictures.

First is the tank the day I got it home just over a year ago

Next I built a simple wood frame to mock up the center overflow box and return lines

I then covered it in egg crate and started to foam and put rock in

and since I'm impatient I had to put the wall in the tank to take a look at it after the foam set up

This last shot was an attempt to take a top shot to show the center overflow off a bit

I hope to have it done in the next month or so we will see how it goes all the pumps and plumbing should be on order and I already have the lights, filter, and skimmer for it.
If you didn't know I'm kind of a big deal...

That is a very nice tank. You know what would be cool is to attach some hitiching posts to your rock wall. Maybe some gorgonian skelton or something like that.

I read once that if you get yellow seahorses that adding a yellow hitching post will help them retain their color and the same for other color seahorses.

yeah most seahorses color up according to their surroundings, orginally i wanted to do black sand and then thought about it for a while and decided I didnt want black seahorses lol, so yeah i will find some color for them in there I plan on doing a grass bed in the bottom and gorgonians around the wall.

You should get some pink sand. Then your sea horse will fit you perfectly.  :D
