46g bow front unuseable ? Help
« on: February 27, 2010, 14:07:12 »
I have a 46g bow front with a broken center brace. No other damage.

Had planed to use in the "Next Phase" of my growing reef madness but dont want to taint the project from the start.

Can this be fixed and remain structurally sound ?

Is it just broken along a crack, or is there peices actually missing from the brace? Pic?

Id think you could drill holes in each side and use zipties to tighten it back up.  the brace is so the center wont bow... or wont bow MORE since its a bowfront

Electrical Engineers do it on impulse, with faster rise times, with more power, and less resistance at higher frequencies, without shorts, until it Hertz

If the brace is all there, even if it is cracked, there are lots of ways to reinforce it.  Some of them may not be pretty, but...

I've got a 55g with a cracked center brace.  We made a wood trim around the perimeter of the top and added a wood center brace (so it effectively replaces the plastic bracing).

I've seen where people have drilled the broken center piece and replaced it with plexi and then put small nylon bolts and wingnuts to hold it together.

I have a 55 in my basement with a broken base. Its bowing bad, you can see it. I measured, and it bows about 1" total in the center. I wonder how safe this thing is lol.
