Alternative to Chaeto?
« on: November 21, 2020, 01:51:41 »
I am wanting to improve my sump setup by switching a section of it over to a refugium. I have always heard to use chaeto, but lately it seems harder and harder to come by. So my question is, are there any good alternatives to chaeto to put in a refugium?

I personally love chaeto simply because of how easy it is.  You don't have the same risks of it going sexual like caulerpa, and it grows super easy.  If you need some I could spare some of mine if you want to make the trip to the huber area.  My tank is clean.  It has nothing but cycled rock (started as dry rock), chaeto, and tons of pods.  It's basically a 150 gallon pod system atm, lol.  I got it from a clean source, so no pests, and nothing has been put in the tank yet that would carry them.  I've gotten some nice growth on the chaeto already, so i could give you a section of mine to get you started if you like.
No escape from the underwater world.  It always pulls me back in.
