Dumb skimmer question.

Ive always wondered why does a skimmer not work in freshwater?

Skimmers work in freshwater.

You can use skimmers in fresh water, they will oxygenate and it won't hurt anything unless it was a planted tank but I have read they don't work as well as they do in saltwater. Something to do with water density but I don't know the science around it

LOL, just try to make brown gooey foam in a fresh water tank. It is a no go
