diy waste collector bucket.

Ok here is my diy wast collector with skimmer shut off. This may not work with all skimmers but it will with most. This will shut down the skimmer if it goes nut and starts to over flow or if you get lazy and forget to clean out the collection bucket.

items needed

Small bucket with a lid
electrical tape
12v float switch
threaded nipple

step 1   Drill a hole in the lid to mount the float switch. You can put silicone on the threads if you want but not nessary.

step 2   Drill hole for threaded nipple. Make sure its tight enough so it threads in thight.

step 3   Drill hole for a vent. I am installing a diy carbon filter for the out going air but its not nessary.I am going to do a write up on this as well.

step 4   hook up the skimmer collection cup to the nipple. Then hook up the float switch to either a store bought auto top off or just make one like I did. I will do a diy on the top off controller i made later.

Damn you're handy!! looks nice, especially the air filter and the vents in the side of your stand.
