Post by: pontiac2002gtp on June 23, 2009, 19:19:06
Ok July meeting at my place 6156 cantata ct, dayton, oh 45449 July 18th What time works best for everyone?  I was thinking 4 or 5.
I was thinking about doing a cookout much like last meeting I'll make the burgers and dogs and supply drinks.
If you're bringing anything please post it here so everyone knows what will be there please.
Also if anyone would like to do a demo that would be great.

Thanks,
Phil

I have been trying to get that coleslaw recipe for a long time. Its the only coleslaw that I like and its like my Grandmother used to make. Wish I liked to cook when she was still alive.

I will be there, not sure about Vivian and will try to bring something yet 2-b decided.

The Skyborn drive-in is still open. (as far as I know.)

Thanks for hosting Phil.  The tank looked great.

During the meeting, there were a few side conversations about calcium and alkalinity.   Here is a link to some good articles.  Even in the articles that have alot of chemisty and equations, the summaries are good reading.

These two in specific, might be of some help for dosing Ca and Alk.

I'm going to try and move some of the eggs to the refugium a few days before they hatch and see if any survive I can cut the flow way down and there are a ton of small pods in there.  Assuming I can get the eggs off the rock without killing them or the clowns ripping the skin off my hand.

Don't forget that if any of these fish hatch they will need to eat LIVE rotifers, if you want to ensure there survival and demanding nutritional needs. The rotifers are gutloaded with live nannochloropsis for optimum nutrion. I always have plenty on hand if you are going to be needing any.

Speaking of piranhas;
  A red belly piranha was caught by an acquaintance in the GR. Miami River a couple weeks ago. Accord to local Fish and Game Dept. it was larger than most. I seen it .He has it in his freezer. I dont remember the length (inches) the F&G said but its supposed to be in some mag this month. It was about 10 inches by my sight which is pretty good by experience.
