more than likely not, if your fish has it, it is almost certain it's already in your tank... but a single white spot does not necessarily mean Ich

Answer:

1.) how long have you noticed the spot?

2.)is the fish doing/displaying anything else out of the norm?

3.)breathing fast or heavy, itching on something?

4.)swimming in a stressed pattern?

5.) Have you recently done/changed/added anything to the tank?

6.) What are your water perimeters? (Ammonia, trites, trates, phos,ph,temp, salinty)

7.) Any other fish in the tank? What kind?

8.) Any other fish in the tank have white spots or that you could answer yes about to Questions 2-4?

9.) What are you feeding the Mandarin?

See if we can help ya if you can answer those questions.

check the mandarin out really well. It may not be ich they are very resistant to it.

+++1   Once in a while my mandarins will get a white spot and it doesn't look anything like ich.  More of a white spot in the skin but always goes away.
