Looks like your off to a good start. What is the one rock that is different? Does it have something on it?

The rock that is different is the first live rock i baught it is covered in different sponges, coraline , and countless small hitchhikers my plan was to buy that one live rock and seed the rest so i got 50 lbs of dry reef rock and 30 lbs of texas holy rock at first it started of like all dry rock covered in diatoms then green algae i wanted coraline it wasnt catching i was dosing shaved a chunk of coraline into the filter everything and was just getting greener and thicker so i removed the rock rinsed in freshwater and brushed then soaked in freshwater overnight and replaced in tank now they are covered in diatom and truthfully im frusterated with it any suggestions?

I hate to be the bad guy, but that trigger is going to be needing a much bigger tank soon.  They should be kept in nothing less that a 180g.  They are VERY active swimmer that need a LOT of room.  It's just plain cruel to try and keep them in anything smaller.

It takes a good 6 months for the rock to be covered in coraline. It will happen but takes a while to get started. Typically, green algae, diatoms, brown algae and cynaobacteria will run their course before the coraline. Coraline algae needs good levels of Mag, Alk and Ca as well. Get rid of the texas holey rock and replace it with reef rock. It isn't any good. Sorry. Typically the lighter the rock the better. You can usually find good live rock on this site for a couple bucks a pound.

The only thing I used Texas rock for was a base for my other rock.  Brian is right, it is so dense that it doesn't promote much of anything and even corraline didn't grow on mine for some reason....
