I know we kind of got sidetracked in this thread but I want to revive it after using the par meter this weekend. I made a chart of the par I am getting on each side of the tank, multiple levels. See the attached photos. It is completely obvious that my lighting is grossly inadequate for my corals. In the chart, the orange highlight is the top 4" of tank front back and the pink highlight is the middle of the tank, front to back. The uncolored is the bottom. The stars mean that I have rock in the way and couldn't get a measurement.
After seeing those terribly poor numbers, I took both my lights and moved them to one side of the tank and then retested the par where I have my acros. It doubled my par and got me to roughly 290. So, I am considering buying 2 more of these pucks and then moving them down a bit in order to put me around 350 in my acro areas. I would like to hear any comments. Also, if anyone has built there own light rack, I could use some help. I'm thinking some kind of U-channel but I'm struggling with how to mount the light because it only has one female threaded hole in the back of the puck. Thanks
