90gal Setup
« on: May 11, 2009, 21:00:15 »
Thought I would throw up a quick picture of my tank.  Recently converted to a predominately SPS tank.  Hence mostly fraggs.

Working on that, I need a good Macro lens for my Nikon D80.   Was eying a 90mm Tamron this weekend, but not ready to spend $470

Okay,

So I picked up a Tamron 90mm Macro for my Nikon.   Still need to snap alot of photos, to get the right one, but I'm getting better ones to pick from.  I had some more, but the dirty glass didn't look to nice.  I'll keep working, and I want to build a topdown photo box too.

Spent the weekend upgrading the sump and skimmer.   I'm using a 38 gallon tank for the sump.  Acrylic baffles and stand for the skimmer.    It's a bit hard to see, but there is a chamber where the water comes in for me to run a filter sock, I don't have it in for the photos, just some small LR sitting in the chamber.    Skimmer is a Octopus Extreme Model 200,   Water is deflected across the top of the middle section, I might add a DSB in the section and remove sand from my display.   The pipe coming in by the bubble trap is from my frag tank.  Return pump is a Custom See Life Velocity T4 (Now called a Bayside Poseidon PS4)

Been adding alot of pieces that I had growing out.  Some I have attached directly to the rocks, some I have not quite decided if the location is right.   I have also removed about  4-5 rocks from my tank, they were blocking flow, also, there were no real good angles to mount the corals.

Full tank pick I took today.  Playing around with with my image editor, this is two pics stitched together.  I should have done the camera settings manually, as you can see a little focus and shutter speed differences.

That is cool how you stitched the photos together and your reef is looking really good.
Did you pick up that purple plasma from the Ranch today. Saw it and wish I had ordered one. It is a very nice coral.

This pic was under T5-HO's   (2 Actinic Blues, and 1 Actinic White)    These are the morning/dusk lighting.  add 2x250w MH during the day.  Right now running CoralVue 12k DE-HQI bulbs right now.

Moving corals around lately,  updated full tank shot, and some corals.    Still having problems with corals being light, although I have been slowly cutting back on vodka, letting my nutrients rise, just a touch.   If you saw my post regarding my copperband.  The days following him getting swallowed up in my tank.......it seemed that the colors of the corals really started to perk up.  Never saw a measureable spike in nutrients, but it had to be there.

Full Tank 12-18-09     Going to have to retake these picture, could not quite match the colors and brightness left to right.

Lazy is in line in front of you, but we'll see how the colony grows.  But I do have the frag plug from this colony back in my frag tank, the cut is about half healed over, so hopefully that plug grows another colony.

Someone in another thread was asking about my lights, so I figured I would put it here.  For all you engineers out there, it was built with "The Industrial Erector Set"  .....(8020)

2x250w PFO mini pendants - DE Bulbs
3xT5HO  2 bulbs along the front (Actinic Blue and 50/50)  1 bulb on the door, this is normally a blue

This first shot got a little dark, I took it with the MH's on......you sho

I like the way you lined the inside of your canopy with the sheets of aluminum.
