thoughts on skimmer

Iam getting things setup to get my first tank.Iam wondering what people have to say about a hang on skimmer vs in sump skimmer?what is better hope someone can help with this confusion.i have been told my tank will be 29g.what kind of skimmer would anyone say would be good to start with?

I am not too sure as to what skimmer model to go with buy I think myself I would rather have an insump.  Less worries of overflows and probably easier for maintenance.

Agreed.... I have only been in the hobby a little while - but in my opinion, the protein skimmer is the LAST place I would skimp from a cost standpoint...
