Title: Acan Head floating around
Post by: Midwest Express on January 30, 2012, 18:07:07
Just wondering if acans can separate from the colony to spread?

If so, then I have one floating around the tank... how to I get him to ad hear to a rock or plug?

Yup, they'll do a 'polyp bailout' and float away- typically as a response to stress, but also if they get too shaded / crowded.

I'd suggest gently moving the free head into a small tupperware container in the tank filled with LR rubble or some frag discs. It should eventually attach and/or start developing a new skeleton.

Good deal. The colony is packed and there are a couple smaller heads on the bottom side of the colony getting blocked by the bigger heads on top.

Thanks for the info!

Here's a picture of a candy cane pup that I had grow like that..

What's even weirder was watching it happen to the main colony..
