Title: Learning The Hard Way
Post by: tidepool on December 02, 2011, 19:17:33
 :angry4:

Thought I would add a few wheeler gobies and a tiger pistol shrimp yo my 55 gallon frag tank - only other inhabitants are a Mandarin goby, a few peppermint shrimp and a saddleback that I bought in the recent group buy.... added the shrimp and gobies to the tank.... shrimp started digging right away with one of the gobies standing guard.... would you believe that bastard saddleback swam over and ATE the pistol shrimp that was only about 1/2" long!  Grrrrrrrrrr - happened so fast that there was nothing that I could do.... I think a wise man (Lazy) once told me to cover any pistol shrimp added to a tank with a container until their burrow is dug.... in hindsight - great advice.... I figure if I stop ANYBODY from doing the same stupid thing I did - the time/effort of the post was worthwhile...

What is interesting to me is that the pistol shrimp didn't blow his way out of the belly of the predator....
