Gotta split?

How can you tell if a nem is getting ready to split? Here are some pics. It seems to have 2 mouths.






I have never seen one split.

Not for sure, but if you feed it regular it almost certainly will.

I've had nems with two mouths, and that wasn't the sign of an impending split. I've also had nems that were fed well with size-appropriate food (mysis, etc) and they got *huge* but didn't split.

Others I've had? As soon as they got larger than a saucer, would split.

It seems to be a bit of a crap shoot.

This one came from a long line of splitters. I like it none the less.

I've yet to have one split either.

my BTA splits 2-3 times a year

Maybe ask Lazy about seperating the two if that's what you wanted. I believe he was expirementing with success on spliting them manually. Cutting down the mouth?, Though I could be wrong about him doing it...

Mine split right after I got it....I'm guessing stress from the move.  It's grown huge again but has yet to split......I wonder if I would stress it again it that would do the trick....lol.

I got it on a deal with JoeWhite. He is a member on here. He saod it looks like it could split at any time. So it it splits the first time. I am going to keep the small one & he will get the bigger. If it don't split i keep it all. I got it dirt cheap so I think it was a good deal. But if it turns into a splitting machine, there you will be first in line.

Sounds good hope it starts spliting like crazy lol.  I actally think my bta is spilting too. It seems to be pinching in on both sides right in the center by the mouth do they do this or do they grow a second mouth first?

Mine came from Joe as well, split withing a week, but I also think I got one of the largest he had.  Someone bought the split from AquaCulture Underground at the swap.....they got a very nice piece.  Mine never showed much, but was very angry for about 3 weeks until it finally settled in and is now growing like crazy.

This one is a little upset also. Yesterday it was all over the place.
