I find that the Skunk Cleaners do the best for the ick situation. The fish will try to get the peppemints to clean them, but usualy results in casualty of the peppermint. Coral banded and Fire shrimp will also clean your fish, but they are territorial and may kill other shrimp. But very cool and intresting looking species. If your having problems I keep a good stock of skunk/scarlet cleaner shrimp on hand.

I've got skunk cleaners fire shrimp and a coral banded all in my tank I used to have peppermints too but now they are in the sump they seemed to have a taste for acans and the only ones I've seen cleaning the fish are the skunk cleaners the fish will actually turn sideways in front of the shrimp so they can clean them off real good I also have a cleaner wrasse in there.  I have never seen any ick in my tank but I have seen some little string looking things on my zebra dart fish from time to time but they are always gone within one day.

Exactly! My Skunks keep everything clean. They eat the Ick during the day. At night I see them roaming my tank looking for scraps of food, mucous, dead Coral. Basically anything they can scavenge. Plus its really cool to see them clean the fish. My Lawn Mower blenny loves to have its mouth cleaned. I was using epoxy to attach a new Acro, and the cleaners were eating dead skin off my finger tips.

So they clean, not just your fish, but the whole tank. I think I paid $13 at Aquatic Specialists. The two I have won't leave each others side.

Do you think a shunk would have an issue with my peppermint shrimp (1 small one) ?

How big is your tank? Mine have been fine together in my 120.

Why do you have a peppermint shrimp? Aptasia? They will eat other polyps when the Aptasia is gone. Berghia are the way to go for Aptasia. I got ALOT of Aptasia buying someone elses rock, and its been on the decline for a month or so. They work slow, breed in your tank, and ONLY eat Aptasia.

WHy are you trying to kill them? They are awesome lol.

All you need is a small trap, and some brine.

They are KILLERS!! KILLERS I tell Ya! They eat all the food and then eat the snails, the clams, a six line wrasse, a cromis, and they made my female mandarin a widowed-darin. They try to starve the plate, the brain, the fungai and anemone. These are very dangerous carnivores. KILLERS!!!

They love brine, krill, silverside; until I bait the trap with it. Then they wont touch it. They are aware of everything I do. They're not your average cleaner shrimp. They're smart and plotting; might be aliens !!   :banghead

I said the same thing after I spent two hours trying to catch a clown fish. Justin got it out in 30 seconds lol.

But I remember when I moved everything to the new tank. The cleaner shrimp was the last thing I caught, when there was 3" of water left.

Yeh, Curtis was able to catch my clown in just a few seconds but finally gave up on out-smarting the shrimp.

I challenge anyone to catch these kritters. I sure would not want to damage Justins' reputation; BUT the challenge stands! >:D

On the hard to catch note I finally got my six-line wrasse I have been trying to catch for 2 years last night he chased another fish into the overflow and then went in after it.

Well Ray you told me I shouldn't sell those KNOWN killers to my friends. I like to think that everybody that comes in is a friend. So...?
