New here
« on: July 24, 2012, 04:01:46 »
So I am new here, thought I would drop a note about me and why I am here.

My 3yr old is totally fish crazy, so I decided it was time to graduate from the 10 gal freshwater tank to the world of saltwater.  The 10 gal has been up and running for about 8 years now and has had everything from dalmation molleys to red belly piranhas.  Currently it is home to african cichlids.  For a long time I have been wanting to do a saltwater/reef tank, but I have always found a reason not to invest the money into it.  I finally have grown tired of going into Jacks and PetSmart with my son for other animal supplies and him pointing out saltwater fish that he would like to put into daddys tank (he doesnt truly understand that the cichlids are not the friendliest of fish) so I have talked my wife into letting me build a saltwater tank.  HOWEVER, I was given the stipulation that I know exactly what I am doing before we go ahead with this project and the expendature of money.

So I looked up a local club and here I am.  I have also been posting and following posts on reef2reef and reefmonkey...and I got to say I am learning a TON.

Thanks for the warm welcomes.

And USUALLY I agree with hands on learning being the best tool....but when it involves my son, there is no goofing up and having to explain where _____(insert name or type of fish) fish went

"A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it. Fifteen hundred years ago everybody knew the Earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everybody knew the Earth was flat, and fifteen minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on this planet. Imagine what you'll know tomorrow."   < K >
