Interesting thread on Marine Solutions & their Octopus skimmers

I did think it was amusing the guy thought his skimmer would fall apart due to the crazing.  Makes me wonder if M.S. & Octopus will have a similar outcome to the M.S. & ASM incident

Looks to me like another case of the pissed screaming loudest. I've bought from MS several times and haven't had a problem. Of course I'm local so if I can't get ahold of them I just drive up there. I would bet they've sold hundreds(thousands?) of those skimmers and you're only seeing a few people moaning.

And my understanding is that there is more to the ASM thing than that thread says. If you're ever up there ask Joe about it.

Nothing wrong with the skimmers. MS just doesn't carry them anymore. It wasn't a quality issue it was a supplier/vendor issue.

There is lots of misinformation in the thread.... but MS did send the guy a new skimmer.

Seems like now most of the controversy is about MS mislabeling their skimmers.  Some state they are not octopus skimmers due to where they purchased the skimmers from.  What a mess....

In a nut shell, the thread started out with a guy who purchased a skimmer, there was some crazing in the acrylic.  That is how it started, then it has become a "let's knock Marine Solutions".  There are questions as to why we are using the name OctopusSkimmer.com.  There is a lot more to this story than anyone posting in that thread are privy to.

We still have a wonderful pipeline on the products, I do not see us not selling them any time soon.

Like, what is Coral Vue's beef with you.  It looks like some of their supporters are trying to give you a bad name.

And if I read it right, Coral Vue gets their skimmers from the same place you do -SWC and not direct from the manufacturer in China.

I would be happy to tell folks the whole story, but would rather not post it out here.  It is nothing I have to hide, but I am not so sure it is appropriate to post out here.

When is all comes down to it, all of these skimmers are manufactured in the same facility.  How they get to the end user is another story.

I couldn't agree more, Rob.  I understand when dealing with a business, there are many things that can go wrong.  We all hope for a perfect transaction but that is not always the case.  That is where the supplier comes in.  There are steps to take for reconciliation and they dont always agree with what the customer wants.  I am NOT blaming anyone here.  The customer wants a product that works.  The manufaturer want to sell a good product.  The simple fact of life is it doesnt always work that way and the customer wants a fix instant.  Thats the world we live in.  I hope everthing is good now.  And I, as a customer, appreciate the professionalism taken by both parties in this thread.
