Title: nitrates tanking while phosphates rise???
Post by: Warhawk937 on December 18, 2019, 19:34:17
Im curious to see if anybody else have this issue. and what would cause it.   I have not changed my ratio of carbon to gfo but did add that xport brick.  Can that leach phosphate?

Anaerobic bacteria (which is what the media bricks support) will usually consume a lot more nitrate than phosphate. I don’t know what your feeding the tank so I can’t comment about what would make your phosphate rise. But I can tell you that Reef Roids, Reef Chili, etc will cause PO4 to rise unproportionately to Nitrate. I would have some NO3 on hand to dose, just in case, so you don’t bottom out.
