Need help.
« on: March 20, 2013, 00:10:48 »
So Ive been going crazy adding coral and getting my tank going and everything has been great till now. Kinda my fault but need to fix.   Everything in tank is perfect except alk and ca.

Current alk 11.2
Current ca   290

I've double checked with 3 test. Api. Red sea. And Hanna meters.  So what's next what do I do. What I did wrong is I added calcium and no alk. I'm a newbie lol. So then I figure this out so I added alk and well now I'm super high on alk but no calcium now.

I have two little fish  c-balance. Well please help what should I do to get right.  I was trying to get to 450-485 and 11-12 for alk.

Looks like you just need to add some Calcium Chloride. Consider running Alk at 10 and Calcium at 425 - 450 apposed to 450-485 and 11-12 for alk. I suggest that so you can have a margin for error.

Any time your raising or lowering anything in your tank, you should do it slowly. So drip it in. Also, I what I do is take half of what they say to dose, dose it then check it before I dose anymore. Just what I do.

what kind of salt you use?if it is io that make sense you ca is low,you can do water change with salt with high ca like oceanic,it will balance out for you in couple week, lots people in rc use half oecanic half io to get best ca & alk,or you can dosing like everybody post but have to be slow

What's your magnesium level? It's hard to keep things in balance if your mag levels are low.
