Salt level fix
« on: April 12, 2013, 22:20:10 »
So I never calibrated my refractometer. And when I got Neptune system with conductivity probe and figured is calibrate both. So I though this whole time I was at 35ppt. But I'm not I'm around 30ppt.   So to fix this I figured I would just turn the ato off and let water evaporate till its correct and just top off with 35ppt water once tank water reaches 35ppt.

Is this ok to do? Or should I do it slower. Is it fine to change it faster. Add salt or what is best?

Top it off with saltwater til you reach the correct level.

I normally do it 5 gallons at a time and wait 45 mins to an hour and check the salinity. That gives it time to circulate and mix in good.

slower is almost always better.   Just top off with salt water until you are good.
