Aqua buddy ro unit
« on: March 29, 2015, 14:01:15 »
I currently have a Aqua Buddy RO unit that does not have the DI attachment. I took water to corals galore and tested at 23. I was told under 40 is good and 0 is best. Would you recommend this DI attachment?

I can't speak for the unit, but in my opinion you absolutely want 0 tds in your water.

I went ahead and ordered the DI part to my RO system. When it comes I'm going to take it to corals galore and have them check it.

If you have 23 TDS coming out of R/O, you will burn through DI Resin like it is your job.  We usually let our system run until we hit 3 TDS, then I change the DI Resin and Sediment Filter.  We have extremely hard water, and usually have 8-9 TDS coming out of R/O, so maybe you need to replace the Sediment Filter, Carbon Block, or R/O membrane?

Okay, the filters shouldn't be bad I have only run about 25 gal of good water so far. Do you recommend running it longer to work in the filters or just getting new ones?

I would recommend purchasing your own TDS meter so that you know when you need to replace your filters.

This one is fairly popular...http://www.amazon.com/HM-Digital-TDS-EZ-Measurement-Resolution/dp/B002C0A7ZY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1427887627&sr=8-1&keywords=tds+meter

Are you using city water or are you on a well? What size sediment filter are you using?

I am using centerville city water. I'm in an apartment off 48 so I don't have a lot of room for a big RO system. This is the one I have minus the DI part.

I had it tested and the tds read 23. I bought the DI part to hopefully bring it down to zero.
