Below is a list of Ohio Reef Members that regularly prune their macro algae and give it away for FREE. If you have some to share post up the type of Macroalgae you have and we will get you added to the list.

I kept it for the longest time, but no one ever wanted any...and I didn't have any tangs.  I got nervous about it crashing my system (even though I'd had it for 2.5 years and it never went sexual)...so I threw it all out.

I'm not 100% sure what I have is Halimeda, but it's a calcerous species that's really similar.  It grows like a cactus...and is less invasive than most other algaes.  Since it's calcerous, it's more slow growing...and sucks calcium as well as other nutrients.

I was over at Monforts Aquarium on the west side of Cincinnati and they have red gracilaria for sale along with a couple of different types of caulerpa and chaeto. If I knew you wanted some, I'd have picked some up. I think they are asking $3 for a chunk of it. Next time you're down there, it might be worth checking out.

Ah, sorry for not updating this thread.  I picked some up about a month ago, and it is growing quite nicely (but slowly).  It didn't travel very well, so it broke all apart in my sump, so I just have a billion tiny pieces re-growing.  Good to know though in case I lose it...can be quite troublesome to grow how I am trying to grow it (along with chaeto & halimeda under the same lighting and the wrong flow for it.)

Macroalgae is great to add to a sump effectively creating a refugium. Here is the well layed out sump/refugium layout with some macroalgae in it.

If you can hold off til the 14th, I'm hosting the meeting then.... Cheato is free, I have to harvest or it'll overcrowd itself.  If you want to come earlier, I work until 8 most nights, but Friday and Saturday are open.

I'm getting my tank back up and looking nice,...I dumped out what Chaeto I had in the process because it had aiptasia mixed in it. I could use more MacroAlgae of whatever kind. Please  ^-^

Hoping someone might help me out here, I do volunteer work at a long term care and rehab center in New Lebanon, OH and they have a 120g saltwater tank that been attempting to balance for about 2 months now, when I contacted by my cousin about helping out.  The tank was a complete wreck and slowly getting it back in shape, however have phosphate issue and just over the weekend I loaned out my bio pellet reactor from my tank (29G biocube) and also threw in some of my chaeto, however it's a very small ball (pretty much useless but working with a near zero budget).  I'd love to do a complete swap out of the water however don't have the equipment and the site don't have RO/DI water so I can only take about 10 milk jugs up at a time and that only goes so far with a 120g tank.

Need a pretty large section of macroalgae or anything anyone can spare, it's greatly appreciate, yes know this sounds fishy (pun intended) but this is totally legit.  Happy to pick up next weekend, will be making another trip to the center to do some other work on the tank.

Just FYI whether you type the word five or the number 5 computer scripts harvesting phone numbers know it is the number 5. However their real interest is your email address. To protect it, consider asking folks to PM you which will send you an email notification to you of that PM.

My Cheato has grown and you are welcome to pickup some today if you like. If you don't have my address already PM me and I can send it to you

Cheato is free. There might be a leaf or two of dragons breath mixed in but not certain. We have several other things for sale, great prices.

Anyone have cheato available? I’ve worked my way back into the hobby and have a 90 gallon reef set up and doing very well. Learning from the past, i have taken great precaution to keep any pests out of my tank. I would trust cheato from brian but he didn’t have enough both times i was in there. If beggars can be choosers, i prefer cheato from a similarly pest free environment... even though i will likely be quarantining any algae just to be safe.

I’m near the dayton mall area and wouldn’t mind paying a little or giving away a little frag of something
