The lasted couple days I notched the back of the frame out 1/2" for the bulkhead nuts to fit. Filled those in with some steel plate, got the frame all welded together and primered just need to bed-liner it now. I also got most of the dividers cut out for the sumps, just need to make a probe holder and cut out the lids and the table saw will be retired.

I spend the last 4 days herculining the stand so now its all done and ready to be sided with wood. We went to menards and spent $500 in red oak so I hope it turns out nice :'( I still have more wood to buy but not to much just glad to get the bulk of it out of the way.

So its been 2 months or so since I posted an update on the tank build. I have been working on the stand a lot  and have many hours wrapped up in it, I got so burnt out I recently took 3 weeks away from it. I started back up 2 weeks ago and heres some pics.

These are Red Oak crown molding caps that I made from a 1"x 4" and a piece of crown molding. You can buy these made out of pine at Lowes but I wanted RedOak. Special order for 12 of these were over $600. So thats how I got started diy my own RedOak crown caps for 90% less. Cost $60

The first two pics are the larger bottom caps, these are going to be mounted on the bottom corner of the stand and the top of the canopy.
The last pic is the smaller cap for around the top of the stand.

I mounted the redoak boards to the steel frame with 5/16" carriage bolts that I drilled and tap'd. These will be covered up by trim.

I biscuit jointed all the boards together so down the road they wont warp with the moisture from the sumps.

Looks good so far, keep up the hard work. I am sure it will look as good if not better than your last stand.

Last two pics are a side that will hold my skimmer and calcium reactor. I have two 3/8" glass tops that should finish it off.

I cut these boards out con-caved to give the rope trim a more appealing look. They will be placed under the top ledge on the upper part of the stand. Two of them for the sides and one for the front. I also did this to the side stand to make it match.

Fedex dropped a present off today ;D
With all the comparison Tunzes vs Vortech I still picked tunzes in the end. I have had my tunze 6000 on the single controller for 8 years and its still going today. I can also hook it up to the new 7095 controller and have it run with the 6105's.
