Well a little change of plans.  I'm in the process of doing a 100% water change.   I'm mixing up 115g now. After that start dosing stump remover to get my nitrites up. If I still have high phosphate then I'll do the lanthanum.

I did my 100% water change Sunday evening.  Did a water test today.  Here are the results...

Temp - 79
Salinity - 1.025
Nitrate - 5 ppm
Phosphate - 1.0 to 2.0
Ph - 8.0
Mag - 1380
Alk - 10.5
Cal - 500

Everything looks the same, my maze brain is still hanging In There but I don't have much hope for him.  Zoos seem happier as do my toadstools and bubble coral looks good.

Now it is time to begin using GFO or Lanthanum Chloride to reduce phosphates.

I run Red Sea no-pox for nitrates and a phosphate pad in my sump which keeps both in check.I feed heavy, and dose phyto and acro power to negate the effects of having zero phosphates and nitrates.

What phosphate test kit are you using?  1.0 to 2.0 seems insanely high...  If you can, I would suggest you take a trip down to Tipp City and visit Keith to borrow the Hanna Phosphate Checker.

Using an Api test kit.  I'll look into those pads.  Are they just in your sump?

Yes, those phosphate pads just go in a high flow area of your sump.

If you are serious about keeping your corals alive and healthy, make sure you get good test kits.

Don't know if you have done this but make sure you stop feeding your tank for the time being.  Fish can go a long time without eating.

Still high so I removed the pad and started the lanthanum chloride drip.  I'll test tomorrow to see the results...

Got it down to 1 after two doses... Running phosphate pads now..  On a real sour note I lost my prized red acanthophillia....  Down to like 2 brains..  Whatever happened took out all of my nicest stuff.  I feel like I'm starting fresh again.  Very disappointing.  I can see why people throw the towel in.
