Thanks Wes and Dave!

Tons of water volume from your old system.

Looking forward to stability that comes with the water volume.

With that much volume and livestock

Going to use two part for now. If the need presents itself I will add a calcium reactor but that may be a good couple of years.

Only one overflow on your main tank?

Hopefully just the one, however I may find that another one is necessary if there is surface tension.

What is the line on the right side of your propagation tank?

That will plumb to a drain for water changes.

When do you plan on having everything all taken care of?

If you need a hand let me know. I got pretty good with PVC cutters when we did mine :D

I would suggest a second overflow though. If the one doesn't start, the second one will flow most of the water while to run to shut off the pumps. Or possibly a switch near the tank to turn it off.

I forgot to mention. I have a guy who can build you a custom overflow in any size you want. He builds them like the CPR style with the aqua lifters, but he could build the u-tube style if thats your preference.

The basement sump was a last minute thing because clearance under the stand was going to make maintenance a pain. It worked out for the better and my wife will be happy to get the dining room back although we never used it before. Thanks everyone for the offers of assistance and nice compliments!

Wes I hope to have water in it and cycling in two weeks time. Todd thanks for the offer on the custom overflow, I decided to drill the tank and use a large Polyethylene Strainer. The threads are 2" PVC to give you an idea of size.

Awesome! The only issue you might have is noise now. Better than a flooded floor anyday.

Yes I agree may get some gurgles and burping etc... Not real sure how much GPH I will end up with. Like you I have a PCX40 for return pump.

Its cool though, shouldn't have t worry about it not restarting. And more than enough flow for the PCX-40. Lowes sells a "plumbing repair kit", that slides, and is adjustable for height. That way you can control your water level.

Basement tanks are filling with water and replacement display tank will be here tomorrow. I think it will take about one week to fill all the tanks with water. 125g+75g+75g+40g+30g. Hope the dehumidifier will keep up.

Would I be better off cycling the rock in a small tank rather than the whole system? Was thinking it might save money with water changes?

Definitely if you have a place to do it.

Might want to start it in a small tank if the rock is dirty.   But on the other hand you need dirty rock to get the cycling process started anyway.

If you want help with water, I can do about 100gallon/day

The rock is really clean. It went for a 10-1 water - muriatic acid bath for 24 hours then a power-wash followed by sun dried for a week. Does that make a difference in the approach with small tank or whole system cycle? I do plan on adding Prodibio BIO DIGEST, STOP AMMO and Macrobacter 7 to start the cycle and a little fish food to get things going.

The pvc cutters are definitely a must when setting up anything with more than one pipe. Saves so much time and they are certainly worth the $15.

I saw Lazy's setup today. I must say my jaw dropped when I first saw it. True to form, every detail has been thought out in advance. His basement setup is to die for... Thanks for the bulkhead Lazy, and the tour! :)

The 125g and both the 75's are almost full. Water should be flowing to the 40 gallon by tomorrow night and the return pump will likely be able to be turned on Thursday night.

Overflow is on the left. May paint it the same color as background but will wait until the rock goes in to see how much is visible. The return line is on right but only a 1/4" under water so not visible unless you look real close.

This is the plumbing under the stand that runs down to the basement tanks.

The upper left hand corner is where the plumbing comes in and returns. The 75 on the left side has the rock for the display. Although it is plumbed into the system I have the valve closed to keep isolated until it cycles. The bottom 40g tank takes feed from both 75's so either once can be isolated if need be. It will house the protein skimmer, heaters, probes and dosing drip lines. Obviously I don't use the exercise equipment
