A lot of people use Vodka, or some variant of Vodka dosing.  Just be careful as you can easily overdo it and smoke your tank.

Vodka is mildly effective for phosphates. It can keep a tank that already has low phosphates in range. It is less effective at reducing P04 in a problem tank. Vodka does a fantastic job of removing nitrates down to goal range no matter how high it is given enough time. Read up a lot if you are considering carbon dosing.
