vlamingi with smaller fish

As I've put in other threads I am going to redo my tank this week and am pulling out some of my bigger fish.  Most are spoken for but the vlamingi is not (he is about 8+").
Here's my question:  Could I keep it in my 220g and add smaller fish?  Would I have to worry about the vlamingi going after the smaller/newer fish?  I have never had any problem with it, but it has always been in with my sailfin, powder blue and coral beauty.
