Filter socks group buy
« on: January 03, 2012, 11:43:25 »
If I remember right a few years back we did a large group buy on filter socks.  They were pretty cheap and I ended up getting like 10 of them.  If you had a large "collection" of socks it wouldnt be as bad... then you could rotate them easier and then do one large load in the washer once you had enough that needed to be cleaned

+1 on all that !

In the past we bought from www.filterbag.com  I think we (as a club) bought 100 of them and with shipping it came out to less the 3 bucks a piece if I remember right.

The last two group buys that we did were done by me through a vendor I use to treat high-pressure waterjet return water.  4" X 11", 100 micron, about $2.25 each.  If there is sufficient interest in 100 or more socks, I can get them at this price or perhaps a little lower.  Because people said they would buy before and then bailed out without explanation, this will be prepaid only.  I don't make any $ off of this deal.

That's s good price..... are they draw string or do that have the plastic round top?

best I could find is...
4x12in 200 micron round for $3 ea
7x12in 200 micron round for $5.40ea
4x16in 300 micron round for $3.14
7x16in 300 micron round for $3.88

If they are round & not draw string I would be up for 20 or so of them... could possibly do a few more if needed.....

Viggen, they're just like mine - 4" plastic ring with a molded in handle.  Paul, do you want me to get you a price for the 7 X 16 size, 100 micron, ring or drawstring?

Halfway there.

If these are like the last ones, they hold up great.  I wash the 10 I got about every 9 days.  They haven't fallen apart or even fuzzed up.  I'd just like more so I can go longer between washs and not waste as much water.

I have to order a qty of 50 or so to get the drawstring type, Pete.

I think we're up to 50 of the collar type now.  Paul, I asked about your big sock, they're checking.

OK.  Drawstring and 7" socks are available, but min qty for order is 50.  Price on the current ones (4", 100 micron with collar) is $2.25 each.  They have went up slightly from last buy.

Blown76Mav = 10
Viggen = 20

of each type is how I understood it

should we pass it on the another reef club to hopefully sell more?  You could even add $.50 to $1.00 ea and give that money back to the club as a fundraiser.

If this is still a go, put me down for 10 draw string 7inchers.

Just a thought: as people move to the calfo/beananimal overflow more folks will need the 7 inch draw string type. It might be a good idea to buy some for the club to sell to people as they need them, like we do with bulkheads.

it looks like we have 50 for for the 4" but how will that effect the price?    I could possibly do 20 if that helps that would bring the total to 60, plus Buckeyereefer's 10-20 would make 70-80.

Anyone else wanna up their order or add to this?

The issue is that we don't have 50 for each type (4" w/ collar, 4" w/ drawstring, 7" with collar, etc.)  The minimum quantity I can get is 50 of each type.
