Like i said previously, there wont be a decision on this until the new year, but since the author of this thread is very concerned about this issue, i am looking into it while on vacation.
I have looked thru the latest 250+ posts in reef discussion and tried to reclassify them into subforums. I came up with about 30 subforums. The number 1 subforum by number of posts in reef discussion would be Equipment. We already have an equipment forum...so apparently we are not utilizing our subforums appropriately.
The next runner up was inverts, then fish, then things like chemstry, algae, product reviews (now a subforum), etc.
The subforums with the least number of current posts were sps, lps, large tanks, natural reefs, and propagation.
See the problem? There is an infinite number of subforums. how do we pick which ones to use...and where do the rest of the posts go? Why should we have subforums if we already have one, but it isnt being used as much?
on a cell phone...need to write part 2.
