Decaying Ricordia
« on: January 08, 2010, 07:13:44 »
So I saw my ricordia decaying 2 days ago.  It has been doing good for past 6 months.  All other corals are not affected.  My parameters are good other than my phosphates.  Any answers?

My guess would be not a parameter issue becuase you would likely see an issue with your SPS corals before the rics.  I would guess it is a predator. Possibly one of your shrimp are getting it or a coral has stung it.

Do you have any other mushroom corals?  If so, do they all look ok?  There are plenty of people who...for whatever reason...just can't keep mushrooms.  I couldn't keep them in my 40g to save my life.  Has to do with the water being too clean...something missing from the water according to some of the "experts" on RC.

But...let's avoid that path.  What are your parameters?  Where is it located in the tank?  Do you have a picture?  Are you running carbon (to prevent coral-slime wars?)

I have a ton of mushrooms and they are doing good.  I got home today and it is completely gone.  I did however see my hammer coral with it arms right next to where the ric was.  Maybe that is what happened.
