Title: last 5 post on homepage???

I noticed that a while back I can no longer see the last 5 or 10 posts on the homepage like it used to be, was there a reason that was taken off? I loved that because I could just click on the site and know right away the last so many posts that were made. Is there anyway to get that back? Anyone else have an opinion on this?
