Title: Quarantine tank questions galore
Post by: UD Flyer on April 20, 2008, 22:56:43
This may sound like a dumb question but I don’t know.

What do I need to quarantine some soft corals?

Will a regular 10gal aquarium work? Will I just need flow, heater and light?

What about the water. Does it need to cycle?

And will 4 weeks be enough time?

Yes and yes on the tank and equipment.

It is better to use at least 1/2 cycled water from a established tank and 1/2 new to get it started.  In a bind you can use all new as long as it has been mixing and heated for at least 24 hrs and we are not talking about a lot of coral.

QT should last 4-6 weeks depending on the coral.  I think 4 weeks would be enough for soft coral.
