It says "on occasions" that doesn't mean you will get a prize.
My post was not about the existing rule or a clarification of the
existing rule, but rather, to simply point out how rule #6 on prizes
recently changed (emphasis added on the words "recently" and
"changed"). Under the "prior rule," the winner at least had the option to
receive an unframed matted photograph of his or her winning picture.
Maybe this would be a good item to place on the agenda at the November
meeting for the officers and members to discuss? A photo contest
without prizes will not generate as much interest as a photo contest
with prizes. As it stands now, the winning photograph each month basically
becomes the property of the Ohio Reef Club (to be displayed on
the front page of this website). Perhaps if the club reduced the
number of contests per year (for example, just offering a Fall,
Winter, Spring and Summer contest), then prizes could be awarded again
to the winning participants and hopefully the event would become bigger
and better than it is now (and attract new members).
