Back in the hobby with a Solana 34 Build
« on: August 19, 2011, 14:52:31 »
Well, after being out of the hobby for a few years, thanks to the craziness of work I'm back.

This time I'm trying to do it right from the beginning.  I'll add some pictures when I get home, but I'll tease with the equipment list.

Equipment
Solana 34g (low-iron) tank
Stock skimmer and return pump for now
Eco-tech MP10
Aquaillumination Sol Super Blue with controller (loving this light)
Tunze ATO
2 - 50W Fluval E Series Heaters
Bulk Reef Supply RO/DI system
30 lbs CaribSea Arag Indo-Pacific Black
20 lbs of Pukani Dry Rock (I can't believe how light and pores this stuff is)
5 lbs of Tonga Branch Rock
5 lbs of seed live rock from Aquatic Specialists

Livestock
2 - Ocellaris Clownfish (1 Black, 1 Orange)
1 - Yasha Goby
1 - Firefish
1 - Red Banded Pistol Shrimp
1 - CUC from Reefcleaners

Coral
2 headed Frogspawn
3 headed Hammer
1 Plate Coral (short tentacle)
1 Lobed Brain

I started the collecting parts in February and didn't get it setup to start the cycle till May.  CUC was added in mid to late June and fish were started in July.

Just remembered this site a week ago and looking through the posts I'm starting to remember some of you.

Here are a couple of photos from the build and cycling of the tank.  I don't have any current photos and I got home to late to take some (fish have already gone to bed for the night).

Setting up the stand and light pole.

Aquarium on the stand.

All wet, starting the cycle.

Close-up of the tank, the scape has changed a little since this photo, but you get the idea.

Rimless tanks look great.

Is that egg crate on the top or just the reflection?

Here are some quick photos from my phone, the colors are off a little.  And yes that is black egg crate on top to keep the jumpers in.
