My baby hawaiin feather duster

for going on two years now ive had two big beautiful hawaiin feather dusters, they lose thier crowns from time to time, I figured it was because of a weird thing I was doing wrong and didnt realize it, apparently they've been spawning, today I looked in the back of my tank, and behind all of my live rock I seen the little guy sticking out the sand.. he has stripes it looks identical to his parents, his crown is about the size of a nickel. the pictures aren't very good because of such a weird location in my tank, but is this fairly commen?
