they are thinking cincy 1-3 with significant icing

between cincy and I-70 6-10 inches with less ice the farther north

north of I-70 5-9 inches

all pending the actual storm track

Latest Storm Watch Report

Winter storm watch remains in effect from Monday afternoon through Tuesday evening,
A winter storm watch remains in effect from Monday afternoon through Tuesday evening.
Snow sleet and freezing rain will move into central indiana by monday afternoon. The precipitation will be primarily snow along and north of interstate 70, while farther south from sullivan and vincennes to columbus it will be a mixture of freezing rain and sleet, changing to all snow by Tuesday.
Snow amounts well in excess of 6 inches are likely north of interstate 70, while areas farther south will receive less snow but freezing rain will be more of a problem.
A winter storm watch means there is a potential for significant snow, sleet, or ice accumulations that may impact travel. Continue to monitor the latest forecasts.

I just don't understand how you can get icing if the temps never get above the teens.

warm moists air overruns the cold front.  the moisture from the clouds will be warm enough to fall as rain, when it hits the surface (below freezing) it will freeze creating freezing rain.  thats how all freezing rain works

unlike hail or sleet which falls either rain or ice and is updrafted back up, frozen, falls as bigger pellet, updraft, refreeze, and repeat until the pellet is heavy enough to break the cycle and fall to the earth as ice

its all about the upper atmosphere temp combined with surface temps.  different combos get different outcomes

Schools are allowed 5 calamity days before they have to begin to make them up.

I didn't realize that the temps were actully supposed to get into the upper 20's tomorrow.

5 calamity days is the norm, but also depends on the district calendar.

the state requires a certain number or days in school, with the 5 calamity days built in.  Our district exceeds the basic required days so we actually have a little extra built in here.
