Where to get fish
« on: November 13, 2020, 21:21:10 »
Looking to add fish to a 40 gallon breeder.  I don’t trust gebers - where else is there to get fish

Thinking:
Clown (maybe two)
Flasher wrasse
Diamond goby (or other sand sifter)
Cardinal fish (maybe more than one)

Other ideas?  I do have a neon dotty back that is solo in a 30 gallon

Yes, Gerbers can be hit or miss.  I have had fish with Ich from them and died.  I now assume every fish from them has Ich and I quarantine in copper for 30 days with 2 weeks of prazipro to be sure they are good before going in my display tank.  I just bought a cleaner shrimp from them that I quarantined until the first molt because I assumed it carried ich.  No matter where you get your fish, I highly recommend this quarantine practice before putting them into your display tank.  Read more at https://humble.fish/

You can also try aquatics galore over near wright state. I haven’t had any issues with stuff from them

Really? I have never seen a more unhealthy environment for animals in my life.

I’ve picked up a few fish from Cincinnati Coral and Fish at good prices if you don’t mind the drive.

So I went to little bit fishy - was not impressed - say he was getting in a shipment soon.  Fish didn’t have prices - corals were all shut it seemed like.  Seems like he is trying to get his business off the ground.

Aquatics galore - seemed better than the last time I was in there.  In the process of setting up new tanks it looked like.  Stuff (fish) didn’t look good to me and EVERYTHING was over priced.  Kenya tree on a rock for 80 bucks - then you look over and they have tanks and tanks (small ones) full of it probably from it dropping branches. - never have bought anything from
Them.

Petco is usually a disease factory when it comes to fish

Guess I may have to go online to find fish -

They are a club sponsor as well. Haven't been to the new store, but they always had nice fish at the other store.
