Bluegill babies????
« on: June 27, 2006, 15:16:15 »
I looked at my pond today after getting home from work & I was just about to throw some food in for the goldfish & 2 bluegill then I saw something that surprised me.

I swear I saw a baby bluegill?  Do they reproduce in a backyard pond?  He looks to be about 2 in long & I know I have seen small fish in there the last week or so but I just thought they were goldfish that aren't gold :)

bluegill are prolific breeders.  try to net some out.  if they are young bluegill you will be able to tell.  i have had the goldfish spawn before, the young never survived the winter.
That one guy who used to be on all the time......

They are like convict cichlids...they would breed in a teacup if you let them

LOL..... I know it's not because I my pond skills that cause them to breed!  I did have goldfish babies but they are all BIG now.  The ones that didn't make it I think the hering got last summer ---> winter
