I am working on a DIY project and need about 5 good strong magnets. Has anyone ever come across any that are reef safe? If so, would you like to share your source?

Make some DIY magnets. Get some magnets of your choice and then cover them with some plumbers putty or something of the like. I dont believe there would be any other way to get a "reef-safe" magnet, since magnets are... well... magnetic, they need to be metal. I'm fairly certain metal is not reef-safe.

They use magnets for powerheads, vegi clips, mag floats for cleaning glass, among other things. I'm sure someone makes a plastic or poligen coated magnet for something.

I looked on amazon. That's a start. Thank you.

I did a Google search for plastic coated magnets, turned up quite a few results. Maybe search for saltwater safe magnets?

I made a few things with niodium magnets from ebay and covered them in two part epoxy. Worked great. Also later found coin protectors little plastic housings I filled with magnet and epoxy and worked great. Think I got them at hobby lobby.

Joe I have some larger neo magnets that would be used in transmission pans to collect metal shavings in the fluid... if you want to coat and use those you are welcome to them. They have a very strong field
They are alittle bigger than a half dollar and have the middles drilled so they look like a donut

How many you got? Lol, I would need an even number. So if you have 6 that would be cool.

I have quite a few from the transmission shop the fam owned, I planed on using them to sleeve the stand on the 240... I can bring you 6 no problem.

You have me wondering what you plan on making?

One thing is I want to contain macro algaes. I am making baskets that will be held in place with the magnets to the side of the sump.
