ok whats up with my skimmer?...

i bought a new motor-i thought i hook up right. but will fill to the top of the collection cup...over flow --- do i have the motor on the wrong side...   i see no brand name on skimmer-

If the motor is not sized right, it can underpower or overpower the skimmer.  It sounds like the latter is your problem.  One way to fix it is to install a gate or ball valve between the motor and the skimmer body.  That way you can control the height of water going into the skimmer neck.  All of this is assuming you have a skimmer without a water height adjustment built in.  Many of the newer skimmers have this feature.
