My new skimmer
« on: February 09, 2008, 11:14:41 »
Well.... fed up screwing around with my ER 12-2/RC-500 which had GenX pumps that crapped out on me.  I have wanted to try a Dart powered skimmer & I happened upon this a on RC... I couldn't pass it up.

Probably be 2 weeks before I get it setup & running.  Waiting for paypal to clear & I need to order a new Dart NW pump.

Sweet!  How come you need a new Dart?  Doesn't it come with it?

I was thinking the same thing about the Dart pump. The body and design of Gary's new skimmer looks almost identical to Verper's new skimmer.

Looks like a beast, Gary! Do you know who makes this skimmer?

I need a pump because the seller either kept the dart NW or he sold it.  Thus I purchased the skimmer & plumbing only......

The skimmer was made by the guy that made the Mako line of skimmers.  The seller told me he beleives he made the 500g tank that someone from this site just went & picked up.

The skimmer is 38 in tall & 12 in dia :)

I wanted to get a skimmer from protein-skimmer.com & if I recall it was their KW-1.  This skimmer is pretty much the same size however about 30% cheaper due to it being used for 2 weeks.

That skimmer is also taller in the reaction chamber than the reeflo 250. Yes that is the guy who made my 500 gallon tank. He does great work.

Viggen,

Not to hijack but if you decide to sell the ER 12-2/RC-500 body let me know.

And oh yeah. Nice skimmer. I'm sure it will rock. Marine Solutions has the dart NWs with venturi in stock.

I am not sure what to do with the ER skimmer.  I will probably keep ahold of it & fix the sicce pumps that I just purchased (mesh).  I figure I need to setup a sick tank one of these days & I will probably keep the ER skimmer to run that tank.  Joel also has that little Queen Trigger.... love to setup a tank for him :)  I will keep you in mind if I do decide to sell it......

MS probably will not beat the price I can get from PremiumAquatics..... thanks though :)
