It's been quite some time. I've gotten a lot done too.
I drilled the tank with a 1" diamond drill bit & then installed my 300-600gph rated Glass Holes overflow box. A Mag Drive 7 will be used for the return pump in a 10g sump.
The 10g sump plan. 3g fuge on the right with a Coralife 65 on the left for the skimmer.
I got the glass already but have not yet built the sump because I have the fish in it(so the DT could be drilled).
Here's the glass cutting and OF install.
I also painted the back of the tank with Krylon Flat Black spray paint.
This is the stencil I used to start the hole. It is made of MDF, which would make an easy DIY project. This one came with the OF box that I bought.
Then I painted the inside of the stand to make things easy to see...
Oh yeah. The plumbing...
This line in back that comes off of the overflow line is for quick water changes. Simply turn the ball valve & change the direction of water flow to a bucket beneath the output of that line. The plumbing will go through a wall to the room under our staircase(which will behind the fish tank).
Under the DT. This is still dry-fitted. About as far as I have gotten... I haven't ordered the pump yet.
Then I re-aquascaped the tank. I still need 15 lbs of rock.
The crabs enjoy the detritus that got thrown around.
I will be going with 2X boost LED bulbs(the 3 blue 2 white diodes) & will be testing them out on SPS corals for a school science project, with my tank as the subject. We shall see how that goes. Boost LEDs are supposed to be "reef capable" for even SPS corals, but the bulbs haven't been on the market all that long.
If these work great for sps, I'll be getting a Maxima clam in Dec.
www.boostled.comThis is what the tank is supposed to look like when it is all finished. Should look pretty sharp.
