cycle help ?
« on: March 20, 2013, 01:47:12 »
Here is my situation I have a established sand bed it it was kept damp and out of the tank for a few hours and got really cold. When I got around to getting it in the tank there were still some nass. snails alive so I am wondering would the cold have killed off everything in the sand or should it be ok to help speed the cycle process along? I am getting live rock tomorrow or Thursday and putting it straight in. The water consist of about 60 gallons established water and 90 or so gallons new. My question is if I get the live rock in by Thursday what are the chances it will be ready to add fish in 2 weeks? Any help would be awesome. I will of course make sure parameters are spot on in the two weeks.

The cold is not necessarily a problem.   But I would expect some die off.   But there should be plenty of bacteria to re-establish and cycle.
