My ?Instant Ocean?
« on: October 30, 2022, 21:10:19 »
I got into saltwater a few years ago, had a 25gal cube that I thoroughly enjoyed, until i switched salt, basically killed off every piece of coral i had and it frustrated me so much that i emptied it, turned it into freshwater which was boring so I sold it. 2 years later, I?m back at it!

Picked this 75gal up from another member for an amazing deal 2 weeks ago. Not much of a ?build? here because it was already an established tank. I honestly couldn?t be happier with it. Everything works great together, love the ATO, last tank was a chore to keep topped off. Even though it?s just a typical 75gal tank, it?s a great size for the space I have. And best part is this is one of the only hobbies i have ever had that my wife also enjoys too. So that means I get to spend more on it!

I changed the metal inserts out with Shiplap to match the fireplace I built last year. Makes the living room look so nice.

The heart of the system, and my favorite area.

Little bit of an algae problem, but I?m guessing it?s a little cycle due to the move.

Looking good. Do you have any tangs in the tank?

The reason I asked is because it is almost impossible to keep a tank clean of algae without one. I know some have had success but is extremely rare. I think yellows are might start coming back in a couple months. Powder browns are available and really good grazers. One of my favorite

Got tired of not being able to see under the tank so I got some LED strips and hid them under the stand. Easy and much necessary addition!

Wife got me a tang for my birthday today! Tank is doing great and clearing up from the little cycle due to the move.

Just keeping the thread alive with a current picture. Did a large water change today. Need to get on track with doing smaller weekly water changes to keep it more consistent. But, things are growing and doing well! I have added about 10 frags, and removed about 15 anemones.

I have wanted a green mandarin forever! aquarium artisans had 50% off fish this morning, can?t beat $18! I seeded the tank with 2 bottles of pods a while back, and added another bottle when I added the goby. Hoping for the best!

Orange Linckia was on sale for $25. Trying my luck with it too!
