You arent getting a drop in ph overnight?  You mentioned in video the fox flame stn'd overnight makes me wonder if your ph isnt dropping too low overnight.  I had this happen to me awhile back before I got my ph elevated to good levels.

i dont believe my ph is moving, it is usually very stable at 8.2-8.3+. I also have a fresh air line into my skimmer that runs constantly, and dose soda ash to keep th eph up when dosing alk.

Did you have flow off for the video or is the flow that low?

was just a low point for the program i run, I have 4 gyres in the tank running the lunar tidal cycle.

I had also just turned on the light about 15 seconds before the video was taken.

So random that somethings look amazing but others are dying...

waiting on ATi to get me my tank water ran.

I told them I will be using Triton for now on, the extra $15 seems worth it on getting results back in a few days.

well I got the results today and now more questions than answers.

everything that was tested is good except my DKH was a little higher than I thought. was 10.09, I was testing at about 9.3.

Nitrates are at 9ppm

with a dkh of 10 and 9ppm no3 I wouldn't expect this RTN'ing to be from a nutrition issue. That leads me to question WTF is going on with me tank, nothing else seems to be an issue besided a lower iodine reading of 37ppb vs NSW of 68ppb.

attached are the results if you want to see.

I think the Magnesium level is high enough to be contributing to the issues your experiencing.

?Brian can you share your thoughts in more detail? You mention that the high Mag may be part of Eric's issue, can you say more? I run a higher Mag level and do not give it too much thought - maybe that will change?

Thanks Rick

I don’t really have a lot to say about it. Maybe corals can adjust to it over time. Back about 6-7 years ago I boosted magnesium to 1500 to deal wth broypsis (that was the solution for it back then before flucanzole) and my sps we’re pretty pissed and lost some. Others shared same experience while rasing mag to 1500

This could explain the STN I’m having on my Pearlberry. All other corals seem OK. My Mg jumped to 1500 after a 20% WC last week.

I always check my new water for that very reason.

well 16 days ago I took this video I also did an 8 day cruise to the ABC islands. I said to myself if they tank is dead when I get back we will just rebuild and move on, but I get home and it is back on track, I noticed some corals starting to shine again, the bali tri-tip looks to have some green/purple starting again and the RTN has stopped on other corals. I did reduce my alkalinity by about 1/3 the amount I had been dosing and let my CA drop a bit as well. I plan to get an alk monitor as soon as I decide on which one I want.

stay tuned.

My bet is alk. If your test results showed a full point higher then you thought you might have be easy in the 10+ range and not realize it.

Have things been looking any better?

Everything is stable, been way too busy to spend any other time on the take right now, finished my master bath and working on my basement now, framing should be completed this weekend.
